Who we are
My name is Sian and I run The Pooch House from our home in Rhoose with my husband Joe. Although I do most of the dinners and looking after the dogs (who normally spend the day with me in my home office while I work), they still seem to prefer Joe for some reason – maybe because he does a lot of the walkies?
Why start The Pooch House?
For years we relied on my parents to look after Lottie (our Labradoodle) whenever we went away, or if we both had to visit the office. We were always worried about leaving her with others and how she’d be treated, and we’d never consider kennels. We realised that other people must be having the same challenge and resolved to create a space where you’d know that your dog is being looked after, and treated like one of the family while you’re away.
“While they’re with us, your dogs are our dogs”
— Our commitment
What does a day look like?
We can be quite flexible around your dog’s normal routine, but a typical day might look like this…
First thing; walkies across the nature reserve at Rhoose Point with Joe and Lottie. Come back, relax, (dry off…) and have some breakfast before a little morning nap in the office while Sian works. At lunchtime maybe a Kong or a puzzle and some playtime in the garden if the weather is good enough, or in the kitchen if not. Afternoon spent dozing or playing with toys from the basket and then another walk, maybe along the coastal path or maybe a little further afield like Porthkerry or Cosmeston. Some dinner with the family and then it’s time to find our beds.
How we run the business
We use Pet Sitter Plus to help us run our business, this allows us to quickly and effectively communicate with you, sharing important information such as which toys you should bring for your dog.
