We get a lot of questions come up again and again, please see below some of the more commons ones:
What sort of dogs do you take?
We specialise in dogs under 20kg in weight and will take any breed, however all male dogs need to be neutered before coming to stay with us.
We made this decision for two reasons, firstly we want our dog Lottie to feel comfortable in her own home (and she can be a little wary of bigger dogs) and secondly, we want your dog to feel comfortable too.
What should I bring for my dog?
Although we have everything here at The Pooch House, there are some typical things owners will bring along for a stay: food, bedding, in one case pyjamas.
When you come to book with us we will send you a sheet with some ideas of what to bring.
Are you registered with the council?
Yes, we are registered (it is actually illegal in Wales to accept money for dog boarding without being registered with the local council). We are also fully insured and use approved dog-safe cleaning products at all times.
Where will my dog sleep?
A lot of our client’s dogs are used to sleeping in their owners beds. Unfortunately this is something my husband has put a stop to, but our dogs sleep in various locations depending where they feel most comfortable. We have crates or soft beds depending on what they are used to, or one simply slept on our sofa. The utility room is popular as it’s not too big and open and warms up quickly in the morning as the boiler is in there too.
My dog has run off before, do you have an enclosed garden?
This is a common one and yes our outside space is fully fenced in. In addition we never walk dogs off-lead without the owner’s express consent and then only if we have confidence in their recall.
